My current body of work, focusing on the inner world as landscape, investigates themes of cultivating upliftment and tending to our emotional, mental and spiritual well being. The paintings reveal inner worlds as gardens, becoming portals to discover the buoyancy and vibrancy found in connecting with what has sacred meaning. Awareness of these interior realms of our beings, such as the subtle and causal realms referenced in Buddhism and other wisdom traditions, inform my work. This visual exploration of the idea of the garden is an exploration of the meeting place between the seen and unseen worlds, where the possibilities generated through imagination may become manifest in the physical world. In addition, the roles of plants as medicine and nourishment for the physical body as well as deeper aspects of our beings invigorates my inquiries.
